Fourteen years of nurturing nature, securing the future

The idea for DEV Foundation took root with Kartik Panchal. The family began planting a tree on every member's birthday and every World Environment Day — a small ritual that quietly became a tradition, then a mission.

Year after year, tree by tree, DEV Foundation has planted and gifted around 50,000 trees in and around Ahmedabad. Some stand in public spaces; many were gifted to people to plant and care for themselves — spreading the habit, not just the trees.

We donated over 1,000 books — autobiographies and biographies of successful people — to government-school students. The idea is simple: a child who reads how great lives were built starts imagining their own.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, DEV Foundation directed donations to underserved families — support given quietly, when it mattered most.

We brought 100 students together for a creative art competition — painting clay pots and clay water cups. Traditional materials, young imaginations, and a room full of colour.

With a fire-safety expert, we trained 300 orphaned children in what to do in danger — run in three batches of 100 students over six months, so every group got real attention, not a lecture.

As Ahmedabad faced a record-breaking summer, we ran a seminar teaching children how to recognise heat stroke and keep themselves cool and safe — practical knowledge for a warming world, which is exactly where environment work meets child welfare.
